GB Arkansas 2 Year Anniversary Success!!!!

October 28, 2008

The 2 year celebration was a great success, as we coincided the anniversary with the surprise opening of our new academy location.  So much planning and coordination had to be packed into just a few days in order to keep the secret, yet still allow everyone who attended the special day of training an opportunity to know the new address just prior to the big day.

Special thanks go out to Professor Maycon Carvahlo and Brandon Russell from Gracie Barra Jacksonville. Being the only other GB school in the state, we will always strive to support each others academies whenever there is a need. They came to train and share in our celebration, which only made it that much more of a special day for everyone.  Thank you!

Also to all the Students of both GB Arkansas and GB Jacksonville. Your commitment and dedication to your academy and professors, solidifies the reason we are here to teach and share our Jiu Jitsu and way of life with you.  Your goals and give us all purpose and become our goals on your journey to the black belt and beyond.

Professor Brian also gave special thanks to his lovely wife, Rebecca, for planning and making sure every minute detail was coordinated in the opening of the new academy for this very special day.  The GB family extends well beyond those on the tatame, and would not have been possible if not for the support and love of our immediate family members as well.

Thank you to the students that helped with the last minute moving of the mats Friday night before. Not the easiest of jobs to complete, but we did manage to get it all finished in just a couple of hours.

And last but not least, special thanks to Blythe Keller for the taking the time and effort to make the special cake for the party.  We could have easily went to a store to get the everyday cakes they have, but were very happy that Blythe too cared enough to take on the task of preparing one especially for this day.  Thank you very much from all of us!

Here are some picture of our day of training at the new 3000sqft academy.  Professor Brian gave a special class on sweeps with the help of Professor Maycon.  We also had a few promotions afterwards, congratulations to:

BIG CHANGES COMING……..

October 17, 2008

All present and future Gracie Barra Arkansas Students need to be looking for some BIG changes to happen in Batesville very soon.  Change is a good thing, and this one will be GREAT!

Womens Self Defense!!

October 11, 2008

Our woman’s self defense seminar, although small, was a great success.  We had six young athletes in attendance for the first in a series of many basic self defense classes.  Learning how to defend yourself is not only important, but essential for young women.

Under the instruction of Professor Brian and with the assistance of his son, Brian Jr,  these 6 students learned many valuable techniques as well as numerous tips on being more aware of their surroundings to avoid the possibility of ever becoming a victim.  Stay tuned for future classes as the program grows in the next few months.

The Next S.A.F.E Seminar will be in November.  Check back or email brian@graciebarraarkansas.com for more info.
